Unfortunately, I’ve been born a decade too early to experience the legendary hard rockers of W.A.S.P. in their original setting. Also, I’ve never been able to see Metallica, with Cliff Burton, open for them in the USA. With that out of the way I dare to say, I’ve never really been introduced to W.A.S.P. ‘Golgotha’, the new album by Blackie Lawless and companions, was my first encounter with their music. But man, I’m so very, very glad I got a chance to dig into this record!

Gloryhammer – Space 1992: Rise Of The Chaos Wizards
In a time where bands tend to take themselves way too serious, there are always bands that willingly embrace ridiculousness. An example of one of these bands is Alestorm, the pirate metal band. But just like many musicians, Alestorm’s keyboard player and vocalist Christopher Bowes has other fascinations. He, and the rest of Gloryhammer, take us back to the distant future of ‘Space 1992: Rise Of The Chaos Wizards’ to show off their amazing skills.
T.A.N.K. – Symbiosis
One of the bands that gets copied a lot these days is Soilwork. It doesn’t exactly help that vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid tends to grace quite a lot of bands, that sound like his, with a guest appearance. As a matter of fact, the French guys that play in T.A.N.K. (Think Of A New Kind) have been connected with Soilwork for quite some time now. After winning the European Metal Battle, playing summer festivals like Wacken Open Air in Germany, their Crowdfunding campaign for the tour after their third album ‘Symbiosis’ was successfully backed. Let’s see what people are so exited about.
Vly – I / [Time]
In an age where downloading has become the main way to gather music, the internet has made a terrible impression on the music business. But luckily it also makes things easier for musicians all over the world to team up, share and make new music. So now put together a great deal of different artists and let them create a record. That’s how Vly saw its first light. Starting with sending bits and pieces across the Atlantic Ocean, but slowly turning into a very real debut album, called ‘I / [Time]’.
The Bones – Flash The Leather
For me, German language in music is not really the best of first impressions. Yes, off course there’s Rammstein, who use their native language very well, but most of the time it’s just wrong. Why in heavens name does a Swedish band like The Bones use this unsexy German sound? Nothing but respect to our German readers, but your language is not the way to create a rock ‘n roll record. Let’s see what ‘Flash The Leather’ does.
Jackson Firebird – Shake The Breakdown
How do you create a good, solid record? It’s a question that every new band wants answered, I guess. The problem is that there’s only a select group of people that can tell you that. If you’re just starting by yourselves, in the basement, you’ll have to figure it out on your own. Some bands tend to do too much, but that’s not how Jackson Firebird works. The Mildura, Australia, based rock duo has just released their second album ‘Shake The Breakdown’, which breathes simplicity. Let’s see what kind of breakdown these two guys have in mind.
Five Finger Death Punch – Got Your Six
Five Finger Death Punch… What is there to say? The band almost split up because of an argument during a show, but seemed to be fine just a couple of weeks later. Maybe albums work like a baby in a relationship, it’s possible it heals the wounds. And probably a little longer than nine months later there it is! The new, proud and blasting record by FFDP, ‘Got Your Six’ and they sound as good as ever.
Tad Morose – St. Demonius
Let me quote you the Swedish band that I’m about to review. Tad Morose claims the following: “Probably the best band in the world!” Now I know my sarcasm, and I know very well when someone is making a joke, but I just can’t leave this quote to be, without responding to it. Because Tad Morose could quite possibly also be the worst band in the world. But to judge a band you don’t know is very unprofessional, so let’s find out if ‘St. Demonius’ proves this band to be the best.
