And it’s over again! From thursday the 18th till monday the 22nd of june we had the fantastic Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium. It was one hell of a festival, with multiple highlights and, of course, some disappointments as well. We haven’t seen every single show, but here’s a short summary of what we did see.
Graspop 2015 Metal Update
In Belgium, close to the border with Holland, there is the annual Graspop Metal Meeting on June 19-20-21.
A lot of bands will attend this 20 year anniversary of the GMM, but why would you want to see these bands?
I’ll tell you exactly why.
GMM Friday Metaldome: Evergrey
Graspop 2015 Mainstage 2: Asking Alexandria
Graspop 2015 Mainstage 1: Cavalera Conspiracy
It was a thing that lot of Sepultura fans claim to be their dreams come true. Not even in their wildest dreams most would expect the Cavalera brothers to come together and make music again. Yet it happened and after their third album ‘Pandemonium’ the Cavalera Conspiracy is live on Graspop 2015.
GMM Friday Mainstage 2: Body Count
GMM Friday Jupiler Stage: King 810
Traditionally, the Jupiler stage hosts the metalcore and related bands. It looks like Graspop hasn’t changed that idea for the 2015 edition, but we do find a slightly out-of-place band. King 810, but they will move crowds like the metalcore bands, maybe that’s why they play the Jupiler stage.
GMM Friday Metal Dome: Ne Obliviscaris
GMM Friday Mainstage 2: In Flames
GMM Friday Mainstage 1: Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators
One of the most pleasant surprises of the last couple of years has been the revival of the famous guitarist Slash. After various failed solo projects, such as Slash’s Snakepit and Velvet Revolver, which was the better of the two, he decided to go on as Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators.
