The aftermath: Graspop Metal Meeting 2015

IMAG0127

And it’s over again! From thursday the 18th till monday the 22nd of june we had the fantastic Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium. It was one hell of a festival, with multiple highlights and, of course, some disappointments as well. We haven’t seen every single show, but here’s a short summary of what we did see.

New names were announced by the Graspop organisation last week. One of the recently introduced performers will be no one less than the Swedish Evergrey. That’s one band that I’m definitely gonna see live. But here’s some reasons why you should go, or stay away.

Graspop 2015 Mainstage 1: Cavalera Conspiracy

It was a thing that lot of Sepultura fans claim to be their dreams come true. Not even in their wildest dreams most would expect the Cavalera brothers to come together and make music again. Yet it happened and after their third album ‘Pandemonium’ the Cavalera Conspiracy is live on Graspop 2015.

GMM Friday Metal Dome: Blues Pills

This is a band that was present in my top 10 of last year. Blues Pills are an amazing rock-band that cannot stop to amaze you with their amazing sound! They grace the Metal Dome on Graspop in 2015. It could just be the resort for people who want to get away from the heavy stuff for half an hour.

GMM Friday Mainstage 2: Body Count

There are these guys who just can’t sit still. Mike Portnoy, for one, taking on project after project after quitting Dream Theater.  But one of the most busy band-members will probably be Ice-T.

GMM Friday Metal Dome: Ne Obliviscaris

There’s one band I really, really want to see on the Graspop Metal Meeting Friday. That band is Ne Obliviscaris. These Australians play the smaller Metal Dome, but they should be able to blow everyone away with their progressive and extreme metal.

GMM Friday Mainstage 2: In Flames

In Flames Live

This is one of those bands that has changed so much along the way. Last year they released ‘Sirens Charms’. A new direction if compared to the last one ‘Sounds Of A Playground Fading’, which was more of a non-scream metal album.

Back to the nu-metal/melodic death metal!

GMM Friday Headliner Two: Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson live

Earlier today I have covered the other headliner of the 2015 edition of the Graspop Metal Meeting. Which headliner closes off this first day is still unknown, but it doesn’t really matter does it? Because Marilyn Manson can give you a good time as well.

GMM Friday Headliner One: KISS

Kiss, Nowadays

Because I reckon most of you will know the actual headliners, there will be two headliners posted on the same day. The fun in this series will be the smaller and more unknown bands that play this festival on a stage in a small tent.

In 2014 the Graspop management decided to build an extra main-stage. This results in more bands and also, a double amount of Headliners! The first day, Friday, the 19th of June, will be closed off by two big players in their own scene. Legendary rock band KISS and the industrial maniac Marilyn Manson.

With the 2015 Graspop Metal Meeting still far away, a lot of metalheads are pondering if they should go or not.
One of the major things on festivals is the atmosphere, but the biggest motivation to go are the bands that will attend.

In this series, I will post a short overview with the bands that will come to the 20th anniversary of Graspop this year.
But before we dive into the bands themselves, you can click here to see the fantastic, yet incomplete, Graspop Metal Meeting 2015 line-up.
