And here we go again! The new album by the Canadian powermetallers of Unleash The Archers is one of the records that I was gradually drilling into the ground, buried under layers of critique. One of the records that, while I was skeptical about almost everything, turned out to be quite entertaining! ‘Time Stands Still’ resulted into being quite the fun record.

Coal Chamber takes Melkweg back to ’90s

Coal Chamber’s latest album ‘Rivals’ might not have been the greatest piece of music ever made, it was never a terrible album. It was solid, it was powerful, but it was still stuck in the nineties. When I got the offer to come and see these American Nu-metallers in the Melkweg venue in Amsterdam, I just couldn’t say no. So there we were, bloody Monday the first of June, to see Coal Chamber, SOiL, Diablo BLVD and the relatively unknown Blood Runs Deep. It was one hell of a night.

Why is it just out while the record was finished last July? How is the relationship with the other Sabaton guys? And do they ever get tired talking about Sabaton this much? He gladly picked up the phone to have a little chat about the new record ‘Gods And Generals.

Most of us will know the heavy and Powermetal that originated from Germany. With bands like Helloween, Primal Fear and many others the soaring vocals and fast, technical music has become well known all around the world. But sometimes there are new bands that tap into this particular barrel of inspiration to create new music. The Swedish Lancer is one of those bands. By using the old-school Powermetal, but giving it a modern touch on ‘Second Storm’.
